Sherida earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of British Columbia, her Diploma in Painting from the Banff Centre, and her Bachelor of Education in Secondary Art Education from UBC by 1992. She worked in the public school system teaching Art and humanities for the next 28 years.
An opportunity to join a collaborative print studio, Printermedia, in 2019, and the onset of the pandemic in 2020, led to her retiring from high school art teaching to pursue her dream of Art full time.
Sherida has spent the past three years developing her ideas in multicolour linocuts, woodcuts, silkscreens and mixed media paintings, as well as experimental works and canvas paintings. In November 2022 she was nominated “Artist of the Year” for New Westminster by the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce. In 2024, Sherida had her 3rd local solo show and submitted work to a juried show in Langley, where one piece was awarded 2nd prize. Sherida also now works out of Malaspina Printmakers on Granville Island, mostly in monotypes. She is currently working on a large body of prints and paintings, work which highlights the regenerative value of nature and landscape to counter our culture of negative news. This group of works will be exhibited within the next two years. Sherida can be contacted through email or instagram.
